Demuxed 2019: Streamroot Presents How it Built an Automated Testing Suite

For the second year in a row, Streamroot was invited to speak at the annual Demuxed Conference in San Francisco. In front of an international crowd of over 700 video engineers, product managers and technical experts, our Head of Product, Charles Sonigo, and Lead Media Integration Engineer, JB Louazel, shared our journey building an automated testing suite.

As a company developing software for video, it is crucial for Streamroot to make sure our new releases work across every browser, on every player and for every type of content. We showed how we set up this testing suite, from building a page that could configure the testing parameters we wanted, to simulating user behaviour, scheduling tests and outputting reports for our QA engineers. This kind of tool can also be extremely useful for broadcasters who want to mitigate production bugs and have confidence in their video platform’s performance across all devices, streaming formats and networks!

In case you missed the presentation, you can watch the full replay here.

Stay tuned on our Medium tech blog as JB will be writing an in-depth series of articles about building this automated testing suite with a step-by-step analysis of each component of the testing workflow.
